Boarding

The Kimball Animal Hospital’s boarding area was recently remodeled in the Fall of 2008. Here at the KAH, we are committed to do all that is possible to ensure the health and safety of pets in our care. Click here to schedule boarding services.

Key points to our boarding service:

On-site veterinarians: One of the advantages of boarding your pet at Kimball Animal Hospital is that veterinary attention is readily available should the need arise. At least one veterinarian is on site from Monday through Saturday, and one doctor is on call every Sunday if the animals need any medical attention.
Medical attention: Medical attention will only be given to the pet with previous written permission from the owner. We respect our clients’ wishes. We will administer any medications your pet needs during their stay here for an additional cost. The charge is $3.00 per day for pills (any amount) and $5.00 per day for injections. Of course, if you need to purchase these particular medications or injections from our hospital, the cost is extra.
Preventing disease: Some kennels make it a part of their services to let animals play with one another during their stay. The problem is that this type of activity often spreads diseases between animals. At the Kimball Animal Hospital, we will limit your pet’s involvement with other animals at the hospital, unless you are boarding pets who already live together. In that case, we will allow your two (or more) pets to play with one another.
Other key points: Just like at any other boarding service, cages will be cleaned every day and animals will be fed every day. Kennel care is not limited to the hospital’s normal work hours—caretakers will come in after hours if necessary. With the owner’s permission, a pet will be walked outside three times a day. Any personal items may be left with your pet and used at your request.

Dog Services:

Facilities: Our dog runs are freshly remodeled with plastic-coated grates on the bottom (as opposed to metal grates, which are painful for the feet). This ensures that if the dog defecates, urinates, or vomits in the run, s/he does not have to stand in it. As mentioned before, with the owner’s permission, dogs will be walked outside up to three times a day.
Prices:
Dogs under forty pounds: $20 per day
Dogs forty to ninety pounds: $25 per day
Dogs over ninety pounds $30 per day
All pets must be picked up before noon on the day of departure or they will be charged an additional day, and we require a 50% deposit at drop off for new clients.
Requirements: The following must be current for your dog within the last year: Bordatella Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Distemper Vaccine, and a Negative Fecal Test.

Important information regarding diet:

Remember that we will not always have your pet’s specific diet in stock. Pet owners can and are encouraged to bring their own pet food. If your pet does not have any specific dietary restrictions and you do not mind us feeding them a standard diet, that is fine, but remember that animals can sometimes get intestinal or stomach upsets from a change in diet.
